I'd been dying to do an escape room for a while, and Rise of the Mad Pharaoh was a wonderful first-time adventure! It's difficult, but every "ah ha!" moment is exhilarating, and with every team member having their own role, everyone gets to contribute and have their moment of discovery. The sarcophagus that Hourglass built for this escape room is so cool and intricate and impressive! Definitely check it out!

Description:

While out on a dig for the ancient sarcophagus of the mad Pharaoh Ah-Ramen-Twostep, Dr. Jebidiah Carter, a world renown archaeologist, tired and worn from the hot Egyptian sun, packed up his tools for the day. On his way out of the tomb, he stumbled over some rocks. He had never noticed those rocks before and had spent weeks in the tomb. He knew every stone, nook and cranny of that tomb like the back of his hand.

Suddenly a huge boulder, slowly started to roll towards the entrance. Dr. Carter raced towards it, but the boulder was too fast for his tired legs. He was trapped in the tomb.

Can you and your team help him out of this dark and spirit infested chamber? Legend says that once the trap is set, the Mad Pharaoh will rise up from his gritty grave, take a sacrifice and rule the world. You can’t allow Dr. Carter to become his sacrifice!

My group did both the Mad Pharaoh and the Ghostly Galleon rooms. We loved them both, but preferred the Mad Pharaoh one because it was much more difficult and involved. It was very fun with a lot of neat puzzles. The technology on the sarcophagus was especially nice.

This was my first escape room experience and I'm hooked! I'm not good at puzzles but still had a great time figuring out the riddles. I recommend to all, atleast give it a shot! Matt was a great host and we couldn't have done it without him!

We took our team out to play Rise of the Mad Pharaoh at Hourglass Escapes, and we had a blast. For me, it was my very first time in an escape room. The puzzles were interesting and challenging. It was just the right amount of difficulty, luck, and humor to keep our whole team engaged.

It was a great event for our little company, and I would recommend it to anyone: for some old-fashioned fun, a birthday party, or a corporate team-building or morale event. Thanks, Seth, for hosting us!

My daughter & I played The Mad Pharaoh with another team & had a lot of fun! I would recommend this game to players of all levels! The props were cool & well thought out.

From start to finish this was a fantastic escape room experience. Location downtown meant lots of good eating options nearby before our adventure. Our curator was cheerful throughout but never too helpful while we worked puzzles and got stuck. (We've had other folks try to be helpful before it was really necessary.) The Rise of the Mad Pharaoh challenged the 8 of us in a variety of ways and I especially like the atmosphere.

I highly recommend Hourglass Escapes and my group is hoping to get back to try another of their rooms.

I had never tried an escape room before and was very pleasantly surprised about how much fun it was. We did the Pharaoh game and loved the story, puzzles, and production value. This location had really professionally created objects that were high quality and well designed. The videos were engaging and you really felt like you were transported to a different environment. Might have created an escape room enthusiast! Thanks for the great experience.

I did the Rise of the Mad Pharaoh. This was my first puzzle room, so I don't have any experience to compare it to, but I was impressed by the quality of the fabrication on the various puzzle artifacts. The well-produced (and intentionally corny) intro video was a nice touch, as well. Overall very well put together. I especially liked how the puzzle design brought everyone together for a climactic finish!

Hourglass Escapes' Curse of the Mad Pharaoh is one of the best escape rooms in Seattle. To me, a good escape room has a variety of puzzles that are challenging but not uncrackable, and require teamwork to solve efficiently. Not only does the Mad Pharaoh have some of the best-designed puzzles I've encountered, the craftsmanship and technology used to bring them to life has no parallel in any of the other escape rooms I've done. The designers have paid a great deal of attention to theme, story, and artistry, making this room a memorable adventure rather than simply a set of puzzles. Highly recommended!

My brother wanted to show me around Seattle and thought it would be fun to do a room escape. My colleagues at work did something similar in San Francisco and they all had a great time. For me, the "Curse of the Pharaoh" was a fun, challenging and unique way to spend an evening with friends. The theme was a bit spooky with a touch of humor. It had a campy, 80's vibe to it. The puzzles were challenging but allowed room for error. The key is to pay attention to the details!

The proprietors of the room escape were friendly, helpful and encouraging. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time!

I was planning an holiday appreciation event for my nonprofit staff. In addition to being extremely responsive, Hourglass Escape Seattle's director, Seth, showed genuine interest in our work, which made our visit even more special! Our team had a great time in the Curse of the Mad Pharaoh!

My wife, daughter, granddaughter and I tackled the Pharaoh's Room -- just the 4 of us. Our granddaughter (10 years old) was so great at puzzle solving, logic, decoding, and was completely engaged, It's quite the challenge (it's like being in the room playing The Room video game if that makes sense). We solved it with only minutes left. Staff was professional, fun, helpful with occasional hints when needed. We also took a look at a few other escape rooms they have -- and we will be BACK! It's great fun -- you won't be disappointed!

I took my team of AmeriCorps members here for some team time and we had such a great experience! Seth helped us with the process and it was wonderful! I would definitely take my team back again. We all had a blast. The escape room was fun- we did the Rise of the Mad Pharaoh.

Just had a great time with some friends doing the "Rise of the Mad Pharaoh". Really creative puzzles with some great Egyptian magic! Took 5 friends that had never been done an escape room before and they loved it.

I played Rise of the Mad Pharoah with a group of friends this past week and it was INCREDIBLE! Everybody worked to their strengths as the clock wore down. The puzzles were just hard enough for us. The actual room looked like something out of a film - great decor and some fun "easter eggs" to discover.

Now if only I could get temporary amnesia so I could play it again! (ha)

By far one of the best escape rooms in Seattle! In this one, it wasn't US who needed to escape - instead we needed to solve a puzzle in the room to help someone ELSE escape from somewhere else... can't say more than that, wouldn't want to spoil the fun! There's an engaging story with cleverly integrated roles for each of the attendees, unique puzzles that stand out from the usual barrage of combination locks, all put together by a warm and friendly curator (Seth) who loves what he does, and truly cares about the experience you have. AND - there's free parking right across the street. Can't beat that! A remarkable experience, superb for team-building and for bonding with family and friends! Good for kids, too - I'm planning on returning with my nine year-old.

It feels like you're in a movie set room at Universal Studios, except that you're allowed to interact with and touch everything! This was my third foray into playing an Escape Room, and it did not disappoint. Our group was blown away at the puzzle props, music, and tech used in the room. Rise of the Mad Pharaoh is an immersive, superfun mind-bender, and it executes the Mummy adventure/mystery theme flawlessly. It is challenging and I recommend taking a group of 6-8.

We went to Hourglass Escapes the day after thanksgiving as a family event - we had 8 people which seemed like the most you would want, even though they allowed for 9.

We had a really great time. The story was intriguing and facilitated really well by the 'curator'. We nearly completed the challenge - only had about one puzzle to finish before we ran out of time. The challenges required creativity and teamwork - it was a great experience.

The props were well made and full of surprises. This was a great experience and would highly recommend!
